New speed tiers?

I have been on the preferred tier for a long time, it was l/5 and they upped it to 100/ten but the login page even so showed l/five. At present information technology shows information technology is 150/5 equally the speed, and this is just every bit of yesterday.

~ii - 3 years ago, they move me from l/1 to 100/10. Cox still evidence me @ fifty/5 everywhere.

It looks like information technology is different in your area.

I can confirm that in my expanse Preferred 100 is now Preferred 150. I believe today is the offset 24-hour interval it took effect.

to f5alcon

Just checked, Preferred 100 is now Preferred 150. Upload hasn't inverse so 100/x -> 150/10.

With the insanely great cap of 1TB.

My 8X4 aqueduct modem only seems to go 120 downwards. Gonna need a new modem which volition probably get me to upgrade to gigabit.

Absurd! I just ran a couple of speed tests and got 180-190 down. Previously I was getting ~120 down. Upload stays the same at 10-xi up.

120 is nigh what I'd expect to see (on a fairly articulate node) with 100Mbps service, since Cox seems to overprovision past about 20%, then it might merely exist they haven't upped your speed yet. But a new modem still wouldn't injure. I could hit 180Mbps on my 150Mbps Premier plan when I was on information technology, and 8x4 is getting a niggling long in the molar...

Ironically, my promo upgrade to Ultimate from Premier has ended and I just today switched back to Preferred. It'd be funny if I ended up at the same 150/10 speed I left when I surrendered my grandfathered Premier plan. lol

Mine shows 150mbps online, only speed test just gets 110.

Uhoh. An upgrade in speeds means a price hike is non far backside.

My business relationship shows 150Mbps also.

Get ready for the upcoming toll hikes to encompass this "free" upgrade.

rebooted the modem, seem to be capped at 120, probably the 8X4 limitation, but am waiting for prime number twenty-four hour period to see if docsis 3.1 modems go on sale.

They wanted to upwardly me to 100/10 back when they gave me a new D3.ane eMTA, simply I declined. I didn't want to tell them I was getting that already for no extra $$.

Get fix for the upcoming price hikes to cover this "free" upgrade.

Yep...it's going to cost us. And this speed upgrade, although welcome, should be 200 Mbps downstream instead of 150 Mbps - especially since the "Premier" level of service is grandfathered only at present and is no longer selectable for an upgrade. Plus, the lowest speed tier for Spectrum internet just north of the lake hither, is 200 Mbps.

Too, keeping with Cox's 10% variation betwixt downstream and upstream speeds (lol Gigablast), our upload speeds should be increased to 15 Mbps...even AT&T offers 20 Mbps upstream on their 75/100 Mbps VDSL downstream plans. I'm not saying information technology will happen because I don't think information technology will....but it should.

I think they hold back 20 up for business merely and then don't count on it coming to residential.

I'm not saying it will happen considering I don't think it will....but it should.

That really started slipping a few years ago, but I imagine that the 10% rule has come across a temporary wall on coax. The manufacture is more often than not still using DOCSIS iii.0 channels for upstream, which is MUCH slower than the D3.1 they're using for downstream, so the gap between them is larger than it used to exist. And migrating the upstream to the new tech is a bigger hurdle than downstream was. D3.0 upstream doesn't have much headroom left to increase speeds for the plans with the majority of their users. Even Gigablast, which has very few users, is just fractionally faster than Ultimate on upload.

I don't wait to meet any upload speed bumps until they either roll out D3.i on the upstream (could be 200-250Mbps on the fastest tiers) or they might skip that and get straight to "Total Duplex" D3.i in 2-3 years, which is symmetric, since the timeline probably isn't much longer.

huh... yep that's really interesting.

I signed up for 100/10 the other day and they finally got it installed today. I did a speedtest and I was showing ~170Mbps/10Mbps down/up on fast.com and was more than a little surprised. I guess this change explains it.

Come up on, Cox. Allow's increase that upstream to something worthy. I take iii.1 Gigablast (not fiber) and it's pathetically pocket-sized and asymmetric compared to the huge download speeds.

Also, seriously increase or remove the ridiculous, unnecessary data caps. 1GB? WTF. I pay for the premium program and get stuck with that crap?

Fixed 5G options with no data caps are coming. Hopefully some competition will kicking you guys in the ass to finish abusing your customers like that.

Had premier cyberspace and telephone since 2011. Considering of telephone no charge for modem, DPQ3212. When my D/L speed was increased to 150 I was getting
160/170. A couple of days ago I saw my D/L speed was increased to 200 but I saw no change in my D/50 speed. I called customer service and they said to exchange my modem for a new one at my Cox store, no charge. I received an Arris TM3204. Now D/L above 200.

This upgrade does absolutely nothing for me. The deviation betwixt 100 and 150Mbps is meaningless for most people. It won't let yous stream any college quality, it won't (cheers to caps) let yous run extra streams or stream longer, and the number of times I download files large plenty to look for in a given calendar month tin can be counted on i mitt....

Bumping the upstream to 15 or 20Mbps WOULD have fabricated a difference and is well inside their chapters fifty-fifty with the legacy tech, Ultimate folks have 30Mbps and business plans are 100/twenty.....

So aye, thanks for nothing Cox. This isn't even worth rebooting my modem and losing my uptime for.....
